Our member and visitor stories
After more than 50 years living in Jan Juc/Torquay it is wonderful to read the stories of the past and reflect on the events and people that were involved in making those things happen. The accurate and extensive research you do is greatly appreciated.
Well done Cheryl and team.

Having traced my family history from the early 1840s and having utilised the services of various historical societies in Victoria, the service and information provided by TMWW via website, History Matters magazine is one of the best. I very much appreciate the all the work undertaken by the TMWW team. Special shoutout to Cheryl who provided help and advice in tracking down my great great grandfathers (John McGowan) movements around the Torquay and Geelong areas between 1846 to 1872.

I live in NSW and I found TMWW while researching my family history online. This organisation has always been very quick to help and generous with their time and efforts.
Some years ago, my own 4x grandfather was featured in one of the magazines, and I could not have been more proud. A great article that was not only interesting, but researched meticulously.
The accounts of all the pioneers, and their families, that lived in the district never fails to catch my interest. These rich stories have been well put together, and it is obvious that the volunteers are extremely passionate about preserving history. I wish every district had such a team.

Great snapshot of Torquay’s surfing history. John Mayalls Room to Move was an ideal sound clip too. Be interesting to do a current snapshot. Wow its changed, but still beautiful.

I became aware of Torquay Museum Without Walls some years ago and joined soon after. TMWW is always very busy researching and preserving the history of Torquay. We have collected many stories and published them on the website, magazine, social media and YouTube. I am proud to serve as a volunteer of this wonderful group.

TMWW is a great organization because the volunteers are all dedicated to their work. Their excitement is contagious. As a Deakin student, my task and others in my group was to research fossils along the coast. I interacted with people, visited the Melbourne Museum and wrote the final report. A great partnership between Deakin Uni and TMWW.
