We also have an education program for students to learn about Torquay history that we continue to build on.
There is also a section for families and others to actively learn about Torquay history by participating in special activities such as walks or scavenger hunts.

Dig up your family’s roots, browse our historic photos, visit our online exhibitions or ask an archivist a question. If we don’t have an answer, we will help you search.
Torquay Museum Without Walls holds a comprehensive collection of records on various aspects of Torquay history and welcomes your enquiry relating to historical information about various aspects of the Torquay district.
We can undertake simple queries for no charge. If your query is complex an archival search and retrieval can be undertaken on a fee-for service basis.

We also offer a limited service to non-members. This involves a $40 fee payable in advance (GST inclusive) which covers a check of sources held in our collection.
HELP WITH RESEARCH
Please download and complete the Research Request Form below before returning it to TMWW by mail or email. You will receive a reply as soon as possible. No research will take place until you confirm your request and make a payment.
What you will receive from us
• We will provide you with the result of the search undertaken on your behalf, including a list of the sources checked for you (both successfully and unsuccessfully).
• Where appropriate we will give details of further avenues of research which you can investigate.
• We may make recommendations on certificates or documents you should purchase which we can do on your behalf once we receive the funds for the certificate to be purchased.
Turn-around time
All enquiries are answered by volunteers in the order received. Turn-around time for research is usually 3-4 weeks. However, the team is small and individual absences sometimes cause delays as well as the COVID restrictions imposed on library access.
